One of our favorite collabs of last year came from Nomos and our friends at Fratello in the creation of a unique “panda”-esque Weltzeit “The Hague” worldtimer. The black and off-white combo elevated the watch in a stylish manner that had us wishing for way more than the 25 examples that were produced. If you weren’t able to snag one of those, we’ve got good news for you, the pair are making another one, this time in dark blue, and 100 examples are planned for production. A few new changes are also included here, but underneath is the same Zürich Weltzeit worldtimer we know and love from NOMOS.
The high contrast we saw in the first version returns here with a dark blue theme that welcomes orange accents in the chapter ring and, unlike the original, on the hands of the running seconds indication at 6 o’clock. The biggest departure, however, comes in the form of a new ‘home’ icon at 3 o’clock, which now resembles a windmill in a fitting nod to the Dutch roots of the Fratello website. It’s a great looking icon, and especially relevant to those with Dutch roots (or any Max Verstappen fans out there).
The functionality remains unchanged, with a press of the button at 2 o’clock advancing the local time through the time zones listed under the dial, while the home/windmill retains home time throughout. The excellent feature set comes courtesy the in-house automatic NOMOS caliber DUW 5201 which is visible through an exhibition caseback.
The fully polished steel case measures a hair under 40mm in diameter and 10.9mm in total thickness. The long lug design pushes the typical lug to lug length a bit further than you’d expect on a sub 40mm watch, but still ends up in manageable territory at 49.4mm. It’s a lovely design overall, though I’d still be keen to see this model get a brushed or even bead blasted case treatment at some point down the line.
There will be 100 units of this collaboration produced, and if you registered your interest after the first collab, you’re in luck, the first 50 units will be offered to you first. The remaining 50 watches will go on sale at 6am CEST on Tuesday, September 27th. The price is set at €3,818.20 excluding VAT, which is, well, $3,818.20 at the time of this writing.
