Seiko Introduces Presage Craftsmanship Series Urushi Dial Limited Edition

Kanazawa is the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture on Japan’s central Honshu Island. It’s known for well-preserved Edo-era districts, art museums and regional handicrafts. In this vibrant and historically rich city, lacquer artist Isshu Tamura produces works using techniques unique to Kanazawa Urushi lacquerware. One of the latest examples of this artistic work is the watch face of the Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Series Urushi Dial Limited Edition which evokes the intense green of moss.

Combining the ancient old technique of Urushi with modern manufacturing technology, a smooth surface is created that is said to preserve its deep color and beautiful luster for centuries. It builds a magnificent backdrop for the various functions that are enabled by Seiko’s automatic caliber 6R24: two retrograde indications for the weekday and the date as well as a power reserve indicator. In the best style of the esteemed Japanese brand, they are arranged in harmonious layout and framed by a thin bezel. The case is made of stainless steel and has a diameter of 40.5mm and a thickness of 12.8mm.

The see-through case back of the watch is marked with the words “Limited Edition” and the serial number. The Seiko reference SPB295 retails for $1,900 and will be available from July 2022.
