This year, the auction is raising money to aid research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. Typically symptoms for Duchenne muscular dystrophy begin in early childhood, between ages three and five.
